Oil Creek Fire Perimeter As of 7/6/12

Location: Newcastle, Wyoming
Size: Current size estimated at 62,318 acres.
Cause: Under investigation.
Land Ownership: BLM, State and Private.
Personnel: Approximately 71 personnel assigned; active demob in progress.
Equipment: 1 dozers, 1 water tenders and 6 assorted wild land and structural protection engines on scene.
Aircraft: One Type 3 helicopters assigned.
Injuries: No injuries today.
Evacuations: As of 5:00 PM Monday the Weston County Sheriff has lifted all Level 1 pre-evacuation restrictions on roads inside the Oil Creek Fire area including Oil Creek, Plum Creek, Big Plum, Skull Creek, Northwest Table, and Ertman Roads as well as Elk Grove Trail. As of this time there are no evacuation advisories in effect anywhere in Weston County.
Weather: The warming trend is expected to continue through Wednesday with temperature in the low 90’s and relative humidity dropping in to the teens. Today’s Haines Index is 6. Potential for new and active burning fires is high.
What’s New: Good progress was made yesterday. The fire did receive some rain and with it came lightening. Last night crews responded to an initial attack near the NE section of the fire around 7:00 PM and were successful in putting it out. Today they will continue with mop-up, patrol and rehab. Hand crews will be working up in the NW Table and in Red Creek. Engines will continue to work around structures in Oil Creek.
This will be the last update for the Oil Creek fire.
